TPO Roofing. Thermoplastic Olefin or (TPO) for short, is a thick, single-ply membrane specifically designed for flat or low-sloped roofs. This thick, white rubbery material is mechanically fastened to the roof over a dense insulation board (aka iso-board). By heat welding the edges of the rolled layers together, it forms a seamless waterproof barrier.
PVC Roofing. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is another single-ply membrane used on commercial buildings with level or nearly level roof lines. Used primarily on buildings that are prone to coming into contact with grease or other corrosive chemicals, it is usually found in restaurants and facilities that vent interior fumes to the roof. It’s less flexible than PVC but is more chemical resistant.
EPDM Roofing. Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer or EPDM is commonly referred to as black rubber roofing. This product is made from a very durable engineered rubber material. It’s mechanically fastened to the roof such as with TPO and PVC, but the seams are glued together, not heat welded. Over time, this glue can break down and allow leaks to form.
ModBit Roofing. Modified Bitumen is usually referred to as ModBit by roofers who install it. This roofing system is an asphalt-coated roll of roofing material that is applied in overlapping layers to a roof with some degree of slope to it. It has a rubbery tar-like bottom to it that’s applied by torch or hot mop bitumen.
BUR. Built-Up Roofing, aka “BUR” is frequently referred to as a tar and gravel roof. This roofing system goes back nearly a century and comprises alternating layers of reinforced fabric and bitumen asphalt with a cap layer of gravel or stone. This roofing system is very heavy and less than ideal. Repairing these roofs or retrofitting them with a new PVC or TPO roof results in a roof that lasts for 50 years or more.
Looking for a flat roof repair that will stop the leaks once and for all? Fixing roof leaks and roof damage on any flat or low-sloped roof quickly and warrantying the repair is what we do best. Too many commercial roofers want to sell you a new roof instead of finding the source of the problem and repairing it. Why? They lack the experience and training needed to take care of the problem.
Every type of flat roofing presents a challenge when it comes to finding the source of roof leaks. Water will always follow the path of gravity, so drips coming from one area in the ceiling might originate from another location. On a flat roof or one that has a slight incline or slope to it, it takes a trained eye and years of experience to find the source.
We have the ability to thermal imaging above the roof to locate the trapped water and moisture beneath commercial roofing. This is a game changer because it shows you physical proof that your roof is repairable, instead of tearing it off and starting over.
Is it time to get bids for flat roof replacement on your building? Our new roof installations are cost-effective, completed on time, and always on budget. Once your roofing is past the point of routine maintenance to keep it waterproof and structurally sound, replacing it with a new one is the safe and logical choice.
Did you know that removing or replacing commercial flat roofs hardly ever happens? It’s true! If the structure beneath is solid and sound, just the actual surface layers get stripped and a new flat roofing surface is installed. With the advancement of PVC and TPO roofing, some roofing systems are cleaned, prepared and retro-fitted with a brand new ones.
When you upgrade to the commercial roofing systems installed today, you get the longest-lasting, energy-efficient, and waterproof roof for your building. The peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about keeping the inside of your building dry is invaluable.
